Endometriosis

Inflammation of the endometrium due to acute or chronic infection.

Causes:

  • Foreign Bodies
  • Bacteria

  • Viruses or Parasites

Signs and Symptoms:

  1. Persistent infertility in an otherwise health married woman.
  2. Lower abdominal and pelvic pain or discomfort.
  3. Rectal pain.
  4. Increasing dyspareunia ( painful intercourse).
  5. Abnormal bleeding
  6. Hematuria (blood in the urine).

Management:

  • Give analgesic for pain.
  • Oral contraceptive maybe use to suppress ovulation
  • Surgical intervention maybe required. (hysterectomy)
