Dry Skin

Dry skin is easily subject to injury and irritation. There are people of all ages whose skin is dry, especially exposed areas such as the face and hands.

Management:

  • Bath less frequently, especially when the outdoor temperature and humidity are low.
  • Rinse off soap or detergents well when they are used for cleansing the skin. Residue left on the skin predisposes to skin irritation and breakdown.
  • Avoid defalcating agents, such as alcohol on dry and easily injured skin.
  • Avoid wearing garments made of woolen fabrics since wool tends to irritate dry skin.
  • Wash garments made of wrinkle-resistant fabrics once or twice before wearing them. This fabrics tends to irritate dry skin.
  • Increase fluid intake when the skin is dry.
  • Use bath oil when skin is dry
  • Use emollient agent to soften, smooth and protects dry skin after it is cleansed.
