Fitness is a lifelong endeavor. Unfortunately, in our society today, with the speed of the world as we know it, even fitness goals are often set with expectations of overnight improvement. Just like fad diet programs, this is a sure-fire way to failure.

The fastest way to improve your overall fitness is to challenge yourself daily to make improvements no matter how small they might be. Understand from the outset, your health and wellness is a marathon, not a sprint! These small improvements not only help your Fitness but they also help you to develop a winning mindset where you know that every day you are getting better in some way.

Even if, in the course of a whole resistance training workout you only manage to do a few more repetitions in one exercise or lift a few pounds more weight in one exercise you have made an improvement that is another step up the ladder of fitness success. Naturally there will be days when you are low on energy, or are feeling lethargic for one reason or another. On days like that, just accept that simply going to the gym or exercising is a bonus in itself and sometimes it is wise to have a workout on a day like that without recording the details. Each and every one of us has ‘off’ days and that is something that we need to accept.

If we get these days more often that not then it is time to look at other aspects of your lifestyle and ask what is lacking that makes this happen. It could be something as simple as not drinking enough water during the day or possibly not getting enough sleep at night. It could also very well be from over training where the body isn’t getting enough time to recuperate between training sessions.

If you can’t make some small improvements to your fitness on a weekly basis then it is time to start looking at your training program to determine whether it needs changing. Small changes that seem minor at the time can produce outstanding results over the period of a few months or more. These same small changes can add years to your life so they are well worth aiming for.

If you are anything like me, you were probably starting to lose weight easily for the first few weeks after you joined a new weight loss methods, only to be stuck at a certain time later. When you begin to start losing weight really fast in the beginning of a new diet program, and experience instant weight loss success, sometimes you find that later down the road, your instant weight loss success was really temporary weight loss success.

Initially, you lose weight really quickly for the first few weeks, but after discover that the scale is not reflecting the steady weight loss that you were initially experiencing. You begin to have trouble dropping more of the weight than what you have already lost. You are experiencing what is commonly referred to as a weight loss plateau. When this happens, simply kick start your diet and exercise program into overdrive.

Perhaps you have done the very same exercise routine for the first few weeks, and eating the same kinds of foods. You need to start exercising at a higher pace, and changing the kinds of food you are eating. Try an incline treadmill, or add 15 more minutes to your cardio routine. Mix up your exercise routine, and raise your heart rate more. There are many different fruits and vegetables that you can add to your diet. Try drinking vegetable juice for energy, and mix up the fruit you eat as snacks. The key is to eat more fiber. If you are walking, walk further, and if you are running, run longer.

When you are experiencing a weight loss plateau, your body is getting used to what you are doing, and it adjusts. You want to shock your body into a higher rate of weight loss. You do this by increasing your exercise routine, and adding more of a variety of healthy foods to your diet plan.

You want results, so kick it up.
To get over your weight loss plateau, you need to change your diet and exercise program.

Here are three great ways to get out of your weight loss plateau, and start losing weight effortlessly again!

1. Stop counting calories: You need to stop counting calories at this point. Stop thinking about limits, and start thinking possibilities. You are not depriving yourself, you are simply nourishing your body. Eat sensibly. Go for fresh fruits and vegetables, and lean protein. Think about eating two apples, and beans of every variety at meals. Increase your fiber intake naturally, for maximum weight loss results. This will kick start your metabolism too. This is the goal. Burn fat.

In order to burn fat and lose weight successfully, you need to forget about calorie counting and eat enough so that your body is forced to keep your metabolic rate at a high level. Your body needs fuel to burn fat, and it can get that fuel only from foods!

2. Increase the cardio: If you have been avoiding exercises altogether, or have been doing only light exercises, then you cannot lose weight. Weight loss is only possible if you perform high intensity workouts daily. Instead of being afraid of exercises, try to love them. Exercises are yet another powerful way of increasing your metabolic rate.

3. Stick to it: The longer you are able to follow a healthy weight loss diet, and the more you exercise, you will find that the weight will start to come off. Your weight loss plateau will start to crumble, and you will step emerge from it a slimmer, healthier you! Take your diet and exercise routine day by day, and focus on what is happening now. Try not to get frustrated and keep at it. Your weight loss efforts will definitely pay off!

Follow these three methods and you will soon be able to acquire the slim body you desire!

There are many weight loss gimmicks and products on the market today like the acid diet and others, but dieting is only a part of the puzzle. One accepted rule for successful weight-loss programs is to combine dieting with an exercise regimen. Those who are obese or overweight not only need to follow a diet of the right kind of foods in proper amounts. Additionally, an exercise program tailor-fit to the dieting individual and which could be religiously undertaken should jive with the dieting program. Establishing the diet and form of exercise may call for the combined advice of a dietician, a medical doctor or a training instructor. Whomever you consult make sure that you follow their given exercise guidelines.

Another consideration is the training or exercise preferred by the dieter. Frequent visits to the gym could be time-consuming. To do exercises at home after some time could become boring eventually. The exercise component of a dieting program aiming at losing weight permanently could be jeopardized and the dieter won’t maintain the weight loss.

Is there a way to maintain the exercise portion of a diet program? A smart way is for the dieting program to include hobbies or games that entail some form of physical exertion. An imaginative weight-loss program could even incorporate some childhood games that dieter could enjoy and help him or her keep in shape at the same time.

One simple fun game that calls for physical exertion is kite flying. The only requirements for this childhood game is a wide open space, wind and a kite. There are many different kinds of kites you can use and one particularly good for losing weight is the stunt kites. In kite flying, one could expect to lose a about 100 calories for every 30 minutes of activity.

Additionally, the dieting person could turn kite flying into an interesting hobby through a collection of various types of kites. Many kite models could be collected. One is the familiar diamond kite which are easy to fly. Even when the wind is gentle, these type of kites will fly high. Diamond kites are also easily adjustable for different flying angle positions to suit specific wind conditions. These kites are likewise highly portable as they are easy to disassemble.

Flying a kite is easy to learn. All the flyer has to do is stand with the wind behind his back with the kite held as high possible and wait for it to pick up the kite. The expert advice is to ensure that the nose is pointing straight up. In light wind conditions, the kite needs to be launched by another person standing about 50 feet away from the flyer. The flyer achieve much of the benefits of exercise in this situation as he needs to sprint to keep the kite flying. Tugging at the strings is also is great for toning up the arms. When the wind gets strong, kite flying will help the dieter build up core strength and balance as he or she tries to stabilize the kite in flight.

There are safety procedures to be observed in kite flying. Never fly kites near power lines. The flyer has also be constantly aware of the people on the ground with whom the kite could collide or its strig snagged. With these safety tips observed, kite flying and dieting could indeed be a successful merger in a weight-loss program.

Shedding those extra pounds is something that a large percentage of our population are interested in. There are so many diets out there that claim to be the best, but how many of them really work as they say they do? Not all do.

So why don’t these diets work for the masses? They are not long term solutions, but instead are often unsustainable calorie restriction plans. If you once and for all want to learn how to lose weight fast and keep it off, you need something different.

To lose pounds, there are pretty much two ways to accomplish that goal. Reduce your calorie intake and/or maximize the rate at which you burn calories.

Most weight loss plans only address calorie reduction. If you really want to drop pounds and keep it off, you have to do something different. You can’t simply starve yourself forever. The solution is to increase your metabolism, so you burn more calories. By going through more calories, you will burn the fat you want to lose.

There are a number of ways to do this. Physical activity is one option. You should work out regularly any ways, just for health reasons, but by working out in a specialized manner, you can increase the effectiveness of your work out. A simple way to do this is to split your work outs up. Instead of one long workout, workout for shorter periods, multiple times a day. You don’t need to exercise eight times a day for three hours at a time. Remember, we are looking for sustainable. Three twenty minute walks a day could be your personal solution.

Another way to increase your metabolism is through a change in your eating habits. By eating smaller meals more often throughout the day, you will help to increase your metabolism. In addition to eating smaller meals more frequently, eating the right foods will help raise your metabolism. One example, cutting out red meat and replacing it with fish will help your body run more efficiently.

We go into additional detail on this topic at our health blog. Stop by and check it out. We look at a number of health topics that should be of interest to all. This also include additional information regarding weight loss, with our focus on healthy weight loss. Remember, with proper eating habits, more frequent meals and a well thought out work out plan, you can lose weight and keep it off. Good luck, until next time!

Yeast is a fungus which is scientifically called as Candida and is commonly present in the normal human skin, especially in warm and moist places like mouth and vagina. Though the female population is mainly affected by candidiasis, they are not gender specific and targets particular areas of a human body.

The fungus responsible for most yeast infections is a type of yeast called Candida albicans. It is estimated that about 20 to 50% of healthy females have yeast cells in their vagina. The presence of yeast cells in the vagina is normal and does not cause any problems as long as they are in small numbers. But when their number increases, it results in yeast infections. Though candidiasis can cause a lot of discomfort, they can be easily treated.

The causative agent Candida albicans need warm, dark and moist environment for its survival and so are found in places like in the ears, armpits, mouth, vagina and even in our blood and gastrointestinal area. These fungus are single oval yeast cells that multiply by duplication or cloning. The number of yeast cells are kept in control by the common bacteria Lactobacillus acidophilus.

These bacteria need specific body temperature and pH levels to grow. If due to any reason the temperature and pH levels of the body changes it will kill these bacteria, allowing the yeast cells to grow and multiply in number without any control, resulting in candidiasis.

Symptoms
Candida Yeast Infection causes itching, burning or soreness in the affected areas. Sometimes it causes pain or burning sensations when you urinate or have sex. Some women have thick, white, odorless discharge. In case of men, their affected penises develop sores near the head or on the foreskin. Candida Yeast Infection also causes sores inside the mouth. It can also cause digestion problems and affect the bowel movements.

Other usual symptoms of candidiasis include tissue swelling, muscle aches, fatigue, anxiety, irritability and mood swings leading to depression. It also causes drowsiness and loss of balance and lack of concentration.

At times when not treated in time the candidiasis can become severe, resulting in fatal diseases, especially for those who have diabetes or other diseases which has already weakened their immune systems. So it is very important to diagnose and treat yeast infections in a timely and proper manner.

Eating healthy meals requires becoming both educated and smart about what healthy eating actually is. Being smart about what you eat isn’t just learning to calculate grams or fat. Plus, there is more to it than studying labels and counting calories.

Healthy eating should address balanced and moderate eating, consisting of healthier meals no less than three times per day. often personal trainers suggest eating small healthy meals four or five times a day.

Healthy eaters eat wholesome foods, not limiting themselves to one specific food type or food group. Of course, the range of foods should include whole foods and often high fiber foods.

A healthy eater knows the importance of taking care of the body. As you might imagine, making the best decisions about nutrition means more effort. However, the additional effort concerning what we eat in our health.

Your personal needs will help determine the exact types of food consumed. Eating healthy requires quite a bit of flexibility. Although you might over eat or go without eating from time to time or even consume foods with little or no nutrition value, you should always try to provide your body nutrition to keep both your mind and body strong and alert.

Remember, eating healthy meals, rather than not eating, is a much healthier plan. Restricting your nutrition intake is bad for your health. Eating healthy is important to a strong body and mind.

Staying on track is one of the biggest challenges I have come to find while working with my personal training clients over the past 10 years. I have worked with everyone from busy executives, to house wives, to your every day 9-5 job clients.

There are a several techniques that I have had success with as far as keeping clients on track with their fitness and nutrition programs and thought I would share a few today.

First and foremost, logging your food intake. It is proven that when you are writing down what you eat and you know that someone will be looking I over, you are more likely to make smarter food choices.

Second, communication. Emails are key in regular communication with my clients. Not only does it show that you are thinking about your client but it shows that you are on top of them. A simple email asking if they did their workout today or how their diet is going can go a long way. If a trainer trains a client once a week and never touches base with them until the next week, they will likely sway.

Third, reminders. This is a key in wellness coaching as well as personal fitness training and lifestyle change. If you are in a fitness/wellness program and need to keep yourself on track, have a reminder of where you are and a reminder of where you want to be. I worked with a stay at home mom that wanted to get ready for beach season and wanted to wear a two piece bathing suit like she used to. How did I help her find a way to remind herself of where she wants go to? Simple, by putting up pictures. One went right on her refrigerator. This way each time she went to the fridge, she was instantly reminded of how she used to look, how she looks now and how she wants to look. An easy, but strong motivational tool.

Planning ahead is number four. It’s easy to know that smaller, more frequent balanced meals are key to fat loss and a healthier BMI. Balances within meals, ensuring plenty of color and variety, etc. are necessary, but how often do people actually cook and prepare ahead? It is important to have a list of what you need to get when going shipping. When you come home you should prepare each meal within a few days of eating it and just refrigerate it.

This way you don’t just “grab something.” If you have meals planned for Tuesday, on Sunday night, you know the calories, protein, fat and carbs in that meal. There is no guessing. Hand and hand with this type of meal planning would be using a calendar. Set your goals and target dates! Say by this day in this month, I want to be down 5 IBS of fat!

Fifth, do not grocery shop when hungry. I can’t tell you how many times clients in the past have shopped hungry and ended up buying something to snack on as they shopped or bought things that they regretted having in the house later!

Sixth, having regular fitness assessments. By regular I mean once a month. Any sooner the body comp changes may not be noticeable; any later the motivation behind assessment may start to dwindle.

Seventh, delegate or ask for help! Any idea how often clients have told me “I knew I should not have eaten that but I did” or “I know I should have worked out but I didn’t”. We need to delegate or ask for assistance from our friends and loved ones. If you know your weakness is with shopping, have your wife or someone else do it that you know will bring home the healthier foods or help keep you on track.

Also it is also helpful if your client joins some sort of like minded group. If they are just starting out they need motivation. It is easy when starting out to quit. If they become friendly with coworkers that like to walk every day at lunch, that’s great! They are like minded. That will help keep them on track.

Eighth, allow yourself certain times to let loose or cheat. This helps go a long way when it comes to motivation and staying power! Nobody changes their lifestyle easily and 100% right off the bat or overnight. It is much more practical to allow yourself to establish one goal at a time.

For instance someone that only eats once a day to take a few weeks and implement the frequent meals throughout the day concept. Once that concept is established, then move into the next one. Whether that be keeping hydrated, eating plenty of fiber, whatever it is, to be realistic about your goal setting. Setting too many goals too early on will end up frustrating the individual and they will likely quit.

If you did great for a week with diet and exercise, allow yourself to a sensible treat. The trick is to make sure it’s sensible, not over doing.

My last though, celebrate. Recognize when you are doing well with your program. Feel good about the progress. Remember, staying with your program alone is progress! Don’t worry early on about the scale or numbers.

Remember that lifestyle change, to be sustained is gradual.

Women health tips.Women, who lead busy, stressful and demanding lives, putting other’s needs first and their own last, should consider taking women health supplements to prevent nutritional deficiencies in their bodies. When considering which of the many supplements for women on the market are best for you, you need to know what nutrients to look for.

All good women health supplements will contain vitamins A, B, C, D, and E. These are essential ingredients. Vitamin C is particularly important for women because it helps to keep both the heart and the immune system healthy. It also lowers blood pressure and raises good cholesterol (HDL) which reduces the risk of heart disease. Vitamin E, also lowers the risk of heart disease and also reduces the risk of stroke. Antioxidants such as Vitamins E, C and A may also lower the risk of cancer and muscle degeneration.

Supplements for women are particularly important because as women age, the hormonal and other physical changes place additional nutritional demands on the body. It is particularly important that women over the age of 50 ensure they are getting enough Vitamin D which will help them absorb calcium which is essential to protect against osteoporosis. While women are going through menopause, it is recommended they take additional vitamin E and B12 than what might normally be in women health supplements.

Supplements for women should also include organic iron. Women need iron in order to produce red blood cells and an iron deficiency cause anemia. Specially formulated, women health supplements are vital to a womens health. This is because women have very specific health needs which need to be addressed and our modern polluted world and busy lifestyles make it hard to do so. Most women have serious gaps in their nutritional intake. Largely as a result of poor diet and increased stresses on the body, women are increasingly suffering from breast cancer, obesity, osteoporosis, premenstrual syndrome, infertility and skin problems. Pregnancy and menopause also place serious stresses on a woman’s body.

The best supplements for women will include calcium and magnesium which combine to reduce the symptoms of premenstrual syndrome. However, if PMS is a particular problem, there are women health supplements available for specific needs. A supplement designed to assist people with PMS should include Vitamin B6, Vitamin C, choline, taurine and herbs such as licorice root, dong quai root and peony root. These ingredients work synergistically to help relieve PMS. Essential fatty acids can also be beneficial to women who suffer from PMS.

Even if you think you are eating well and therefore do not need to take a vitamin and mineral supplement, if you are in one of the following groups you may need to think again:

• Post menopausal women experience a sudden decline in their levels of estrogen which in turn causes an increase in bone loss. Supplements for women containing Calcium and Vitamin D will help to prevent this bone loss.

• Women who have heavy menstruation may have an iron deficiency due to excessive blood loss. This can cause the blood to be low in hemoglobin (anemia) which carries oxygen in the blood to the tissues. Women health supplements containing organic iron can replace the depleted iron and avoid anemia and its effects.

• Women who are trying to become pregnant or who are already pregnant would benefit from taking various women health supplements. In particular, they should ensure their supplements contain calcium, Vitamin D, folate and iron. It is best to start taking a good supplement before getting pregnant.

Women have nutritional needs that are unique to them and cannot be met by just taking a broad-spectrum multi-vitamin supplement. Supplements for women should certainly contain the vitamins, minerals, amino acids and enzymes that we all need, but they should also include ingredients that meet the specific needs of women. You can find women health supplements that are both comprehensive and specific to certain needs.

If you avoid synthetic products, buy a natural broad spectrum women’s supplement, eat a healthy diet, exercise and reduce stress where possible, your health should improve. If you are still experiencing ‘female problems’, look for a specific supplement to meet that need. Find more information about diet and obesity here. You won’t look back.
